Tech In Entrepreneurship: How AI is disrupting the role of the CEO

Updated: Jun 2

Hello Innovators! I'm excited to share some insights from my recent chat on The Goodman Podcast. We covered a lot of ground, from my early days in sports to my journey through tech and business.

Strap in, because we're about to explore some transformative ideas about the future of AI in entrepreneurship.

My Journey: From Sports Enthusiast to Tech Entrepreneur

Ever had that "lightbulb" moment with your career? Reflecting on my path, it’s clear that mine came early when my passion for sports began. Growing up in the US, I was immersed in the world of sports. I played them all—from baseball to basketball, football, wrestling, and tennis. But when my parents gave me my first computer, a Commodore 64, I found myself drawn to the dynamic and ever-evolving tech landscape.

High Performing Cultures Have High Caliber Recruitment

Recruitment is the cornerstone of any thriving company, and believe me, getting it right is like striking gold. At my first venture-backed startup, TinyPulse, we focused on creating products to help businesses hire, retain, and grow talent.

It all starts with getting the right people in the right seats. As highlighted in the book “How Google Works,” it was so important that Larry Page and Sergey Brin remained meticulously involved through the first 10,000 employees.

But recruitment is hard, and it takes time.

CEOs: If Haven't Transformed Your Talent Management Processes, Now is The Time

Here’s the exciting part. AI is transforming recruitment by tackling many traditional challenges head-on. From minimizing recruiter bias to automating resume reviews, AI tools are making the process more efficient and equitable. Imagine having an incredibly knowledgeable companion who assists you with everything. That’s AI for you.

At Talent Edge, we utilize AI to streamline resume evaluation, saving countless hours and enhancing accuracy.

Picture this: AI as an interview panelist, offering unbiased insights alongside human evaluators. This combined approach can lead to more balanced and precise hiring decisions.

When it comes to performance evaluations, AI can play a pivotal role. Traditional performance reviews often suffer from biases and data silos. By integrating AI, companies can add a new data point to their evaluations, helping to provide more objective and comprehensive assessments.

Cultural Nuances in Hiring: Insights from Vietnam

Hiring in Vietnam offers unique cultural insights. The Vietnamese workforce is entrepreneurial, tech-curious, and ambitious. However, understanding and respecting cultural differences is key. Building trust and establishing connections are essential steps before diving into challenging conversations. It’s about finding the balance between local customs and global business practices.

The Future of AI in Business

The future is here, my friends. Integrating AI in business isn’t just a trend; it’s a revolution. Companies must adapt to using AI tools or risk falling behind. In my current venture, we’re focused on building AI-empowered teams. We encourage our employees to spend time learning and applying AI tools to boost their efficiency and effectiveness. This approach is crucial for staying competitive in today’s fast-paced market.

EO Journey: Personal and Professional Growth

My journey with the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) has been life-changing. Founding the Vietnam chapter and taking on various regional roles have profoundly impacted both my personal and professional life. The connections and learning opportunities provided by EO have been invaluable, helping me refine my approach to business and life.

Final Thoughts

It’s an exhilarating time to be in this field, and I’m grateful for the chance to share these insights with you. Stay curious, stay innovative, and let’s keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in recruitment and beyond.
